Aegle marmelos (Bela Patra)

Aegle marmelos, also known as Bela Patras is sacred to India for its significance in tradition and culture to the Hindus. Bela Patra and its leaves are considered holy during puja and auspicious occasions. Besides being a great fruit that has many medicinal benefits, it also has a mythological importance. Bela Patra is offered to Lord Shiva during puja and while worshiping other Hindu deities. According to the Hindu scriptures, the leaves of Bela Patra represent the Trinity- Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and are considered to be dear to Lord Shiva. Offering of Bela Patra and its leaves to deities is believed to bring good energies and happiness to the worshipper.
