Durga Puja

Durga Puja is a grand religious festival of Hindus paying their respect to Goddess Durga- Maha Shakti. It marks the victory of Goddess Durga from the demon Mahishasura. This celebration is carried out by huge ostentatious pandals with grand and majestic idols of Goddess Durga also called Goddess Kali. Durga Puja begins on the sixth day of Ashwin Shukla Paksha and ends on the tenth day of Ashwin Shukla Paksha as per the Hindu Calendar. With a symbolism of Good being victorious over Evil, Durga Puja is also called Akalbodhan in the Odisha and parts of West Bengal, Assam and Tripura.
