Janeu Ceremony

Janeu is a sacred thread worn by brahmin boys at a traditional ceremony. This pious Hindu ritual is performed during a ceremony called the Upanayan Sanskar which means enlightenment or formal entry into education. This holy thread comprises three strands of cotton fabric which have their own symbolism of representing Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. It is also referred to as a sign of spirituality and a passage to The Almighty. Wearing a holy janeu is also an announcement of being Twice Born which represents the transition from a boy to a man which expects the person to perform good acts and only the highest deeds.
