The festival of light- Diwali falls in the month of Ashwin and Kartik according to the Hindu calendar. This religious celebration is a five-day festival that includes lighting ghee diyas, believed to bring prosperity to homes. People perform puja in the evening celebrating Lord Ganesha- remover of obstacles and Goddess Lakshmi- the giver of wealth and good fortune. Diwali includes the large gathering of people in front of the temple to offer their prayers to their ancestors. People also offer the Mahaprasad to Brahmins while following the ritualistic process of burning Kaunriya Kathis. It is then followed by the bursting of crackers with the family.
